Grundschule Trier-TarforstThe Tarforst Primary School is a room for learning and living, where children feel at ease and learn with joy. Basic education should be made possible for all the children, and we pick them up from where they are. Our natural task is to work together with parents to pave the way for socially competent, responsible and independent people so that they can meet the challenges of the future.

We are committed to

  • an open relationship between teachers and students,
  • a trusting cooperation between home and school,
  • a good helpful and considerate cooperation, which is expressed through openness and transparency.

The transfer of knowledge is embedded in these principles. The children have time and peace to learn and work in a balanced work and action syllabus.

Again we want to be able to confront and leave the beaten track. Therefore individual teaching methods are critically scrutinized and checked for usefulness and efficiency.

Schedule and Daily Routine

7.50 – 8.00 Opening
8.00 – 9.45 Teaching phase with a five minute break
9.45 – 10.00 Supervised breakfast
10.00 – 10.20 Break with leisure activities on the playground
10.20 – 12.00 Teaching phase 2 with a ten minute break (11.05 – 11.15 Uhr)
12.00 – 12.15 School over for classes 1 and 2; Break with leisure activities on the playground forclasses 3 and 4
12.15 – 13.00 Teaching phase 3 for classes 3 and 4
12.00 – 15.00 Opportunity to participate in care giving; 87 pupils take up the offer (an average of 80 students perday from Monday to Thursday, 60 on Friday)
12.15 – 12.45 Lunch for classes 1 and 2
13.00 – 13.30 Lunch for classes 3 and 4

What did you learn since you decided to participate in EQUIPE? What has changed in your organisation?

The project was very beneficial for us because we were able to look at our school and our work from a different perspective.

We would like to implement the establishing of a parent café in a timely manner.

Particularly we have visibly „baggage free“ pupils and consistent school and writing materials at our disposal. Children without school bags – children without homework: this we would like to slip into our plan.

How will you continue to work on these topics? What are your next steps?

Since we will be an all-day school from the next school year on, our first priority is to carry out this big project, our gained impressions will be however integrated into the new school situation.
